My new Marshall Guitar Amplifier

November 8th, 2008 by Rohan

I would like to think that I had some awesome planning behind this purchase. Fuck no, I’ve been as impulsive as Marshall would be good at their products. Things like these don’t deserve the agony you go through while waiting to get one into your bedroom.

So yes, I purchased a MG30DFX Marshall Amp quite randomly you might say? Not entirely true. I’ve had my eye on this piece since the past two months. Also, thanks to bajaoo.com - an Indian online store where you can buy almost everything from guitars to drum sets to recording equipments. They helped me buy the Amp while relaxing in front of my computer with a beer in hand.

What was my first impression of the Amp? Its bigger than I thought it would be. Its quiet heavy too, and gives an impression that you’re just buying bigger speakers rather than powerful ones. Its fucking loud though - good enough for jamming in the bedroom with friends. And the knobs are superb! A slight turn and you can feel the difference.

Its got two channels - clean and overdrive. I’ve not experimented with them enough, but I believe the panel controls will give me a decent sized playground to roam about in searching for that tone.

Some pics for your viewing pleasure and your jealousy.

The box on arrival

Its out of the box now.

I belong to the Marshall family now! As if….

yeah, there’s a slight gap between the panel and the speaker box. Ventilation perhaps?

It comes with an instruction manual. Do people read this anymore? I do, especially if its short and sweet - which it is.

I wish the power cord was longer though.

What do you think?

At home. Ignore that dirty chair and that dirty office desk.

    Nice amp.

You should use JPEG rather than 2MB+ PNG for pictures. Not everyone’s got a T1 line.

  2. Rohan Says:

Yeah, is a beautiful amp. Thanks for the comment, I have switched to using JPEG.
